Black History and Treme Neighborhood Tour

1 hour and 45 minutes

Easy

Let a High Priestess of Louisiana Plantation Vodou/Voodoo take you around the site where African Traditional Religions were kept alive in the wake of enslavement.

The majority of the Voodoo tours in the city are offered by those who are either non-initiates, or those who do not have the lineage to support their understanding and service to the religion.

This is the only Voodoo tour offered in New Orleans that is led by a High Priestess of Louisiana Plantation Vodou. Malika/Osheyo Amanzi can trace her bloodline back to the coast of Virgina and the Carolinas, home of the Gullah-Geechee who have their own West African-based religions.

Her initiations  include being an Isefa (hand of Ifa), Olorisa (full devotee of Isese), and a High Priestess of Louisiana Plantation Vodou/Voodoo. Don’t know what all of that means? Let her take you for a walk and explore all the African Traditional Religions that came together to create Louisiana Plantation Voodoo/Vodou!
